Chris Sutton abruptly crashed Michelle Young’s one-on-one date with another contestant on Tuesday night’s episode of The Bachelorette on ABC.
The 28-year-old commodities broker from West Hollywood, California got in a car and drove across town to interrupt Michelle’s date with Nayte Olukoya, 27, a sales executive from Austin, Texas.
Michelle had just told Nayte that their date on Lake Minnetonka was one her favorite dates. He responded by telling her that he had developed real feelings for her when Chris suddenly showed up.

Chris had been back at The Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis talking to Martin Gelbspan, 29, a personal trainer from Miami, about ‘Michelle’s infatuation with Nayte.’ Chris said in a confessional that Michelle hadn’t taken his warnings about Nayte seriously.
‘What I told her will be validated,’ Chris told Martin.
Chris then walked out of the hotel and got into a car.
‘She said she wants someone to make her feel seen and show up,’ said Chris. ‘I’m going to show up.’

Chris took the escalator and showed up where Nayte and Michelle were having dinner. He asked Michelle if he could speak to her for one minute. Nayte looked at him like he was crazy.

Michelle agreed and walked over to talk to Chris. Chris told her that he felt really insecure being on the show. He said he was really disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to speak to her last night.

She asked him what he meant by ‘played.’ He told her before the last rose ceremony that after he shared with her information about Nayte that she just went and sat down next to Nayte.

Michelle said to Chris that she was caught off guard with how it seemed like he spoke for her.
Chris then asked why she put on a ‘fake smile’ at the group date. Michelle told him walking into the group date that Chris didn’t have a good attitude.
‘I do appreciate you wanting to look out for me but at the same time I can speak out for myself,’ Michelle told him. ‘I want a man who is going to stand and support me when I speak and not a man who is going to speak for me.’

She told him as a female of color that there were occasions where people spoke for her, but that she felt empowered when she could speak for herself. She told Chris she didn’t feel that they were on the page and didn’t see their relationship progressing.
‘So I do need to walk you out,’ Michelle said.

They pulled up at a restaurant and she told him that their date was turning into a group date. Michelle’s two best friends showed up to join them. Her friends Allie and Tia asked him if he thought anyone was there for the wrong reasons. He told them that last week one man stood up and called him out.
Nayte explained that when he made the comment about knowing he would go on a one-on-one with Michelle that it was because he felt such a strong connection with her. Her friends said it was clear that they had physical chemistry.

The two ended the day by jumping into the lake together.
During the evening portion of the date, before Chris showed up, Michelle and Nayte sat down at dinner to talk. Nayte told her that communication was important in his relationship. He said he also wanted someone to call him out on his ‘bulls***.’ He said he didn’t like to be serious all the time.
‘This is someone I genuinely want to fight for the rest of my life,’ Nayte said to the camera.
Michelle also said that she was starting to fall for Nayte.
After Michelle sent Chris home she grabbed the rose on the table and told Nayte that their chemistry was undeniable and gave him the rose.

They walked out on the roof and kissed and fireworks went off around them.
The episode started with the men excitedly packing up to go to Michelle’s hometown of Minneapolis. Michelle said to the camera that she was so happy to be back home and to show the men what she stood for and where she grew up.
Michelle first met with her parents in their backyard to talk to them about the process. She told them that 11 men were left and that they were some of the best people that she had ever met. Her mom told her she was happy for her.

Michelle took Joe to a Minnesota Twins baseball game where she threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Afterwards, Michelle took him to her high school where she said he would learn a lot about her. She showed him her high school locker, her basketball trophies and her yearbook. They went to the school gym and played some one-on-one basketball.

Joe said in a confessional that he felt really good about the day. Michelle said in her confessional that Joe would have been her crush in high school.
Michelle told Joe that he reminded him of her dad because he was so reserved. He said that was how he was raised and that it was hard for him to open up to people. He said he was trying to take his walls down. She told him that she appreciated him working to tear that wall down.
At night, Joe and Michelle went out to dinner. He told her about his sports injuries and receiving screws and plates in his foot. Joe said he couldn’t perform at the same level after the operation and it was ‘beyond difficult.’

Joe said he suffered from depression and wondered at times whether he still even wanted to be here because of the high standards he had for himself as an athlete.
Michelle cried when he told her his story. Joe also started crying. He said so much of identity was caught up in basketball that he felt really lost when he had to quit.
Michelle shared with him that she had also been in the same position when she felt she had hit rock bottom. Joe said this was not something that he shares with everyone but that she was ‘worth it.’

Michelle then gave Joe the date rose and the two kissed. The two finished the date by going on a Ferris wheel over the city and kissed.
‘After today my feelings for Joe have grown tremendously,’ Michelle said to the camera. She said the date was perfect and the ‘most star aligning date I have ever been on.’
The rest of the men went back to the hotel and were nervous and jealous about Joe spending so much time with Michelle. They wondered who would get the other one-on-one date. When the date card came for the group date it was for Chris; Casey Woods, 36, an advertising creative director from Miami Beach; Rodney Matthews, 29, a sales rep. from Rancho Cucamonga, California; Martin Gelbspan, 29, a personal trainer from Miami; Leroy Arthur, 27, a biomedical Ph.D student from Dallas; Rick Leach, 32, a medical sales rep from Munroe Falls, Ohio; Clayton Echard, 28, a medical sales rep from Columbia, Missouri; Olumide ‘Olu’ Onajide, 27, an IT analyst from Newark, New Jersey; and Brandon Jones, 26, a traveling nurse recruiter from Portland, Oregon, and read ‘Meet me at the stadium. Love, Michelle.’ Nayte was the only one not included which meant he was going on the one-on-one date.
Chris was mad that Nayte got picked for the date after what he told Michelle about him being over confident.
‘I feel like I got the short end of the stick,’ he said.
The next day Michelle met the other men at the football stadium. They ran to see her. She asked them if they were ready to meet the Vikings, but instead of the football team Viking character ‘warriors’ ran out. They taught the men to be vikings with lessons that included screaming ‘war cries’ and tossing logs. The men also took time to make special moments with Michelle.

The men then changed into warrior outfits except for Chris who wore a horse outfit. In the middle of the football field, there was a table filled with viking food including Viking head hash and fermented herring. Chris said he didn’t think he could do it.
The first battle was Chris against Olu. Chris told Michelle immediately that he was going to forfeit, but she said no. Olu let out his warrior scream. The two arm wrestled and Olu won.

The men changed for their evening date with Michelle. She told them that she appreciated that they all put in the effort during the date to make small connections with her.
Michelle spoke to Clayton and told him that he was sharing more of himself. They two kissed but then Brandon walked in.

Chris didn’t seem to be as engaged to talk to Michelle. Olu said to the men that he was hoping to have his time with Michelle. He told Chris after the stunt that he pulled that it changed the vibe.
Chris then got up from sitting with the other guys. Chris went outside and spoke to Martin about how he felt on the outs after sharing with Michelle his feelings on Nayte. Chris told him that he was going to be honest with her. Chris kept drinking but didn’t seem to be getting time with Michelle.
‘I’d love to speak to her,’ Chris said to the camera. ‘I understand she is getting all this attention from all these guys but I don’t understand why she hasn’t talked to me. …I’m hoping when I do get time to talk to her my relationship with her could make a huge leap.’

Michelle walked down on the couch at the end of the night with the men and said, ‘Are we missing someone.’ The men told her Chris and then he walked over and joined them. She told them they were going to wrap up this evening and grabbed the group date rose.
‘Brandon, I promise to never make you eat fermented nordic fish ever again,’ said Michelle.
She then thanked Clayton for sharing about his parents and how similar they were to her parents and told her it meant a lot to her. She said there was one rose and it was for this person who she really connected with today. She then gave the rose to Clayton.

‘She speaks with every single person but me,’ said Chris. ‘That is crazy.’
Brandon asked Chris if he had anything to say, but Chris said he didn’t have anything to share with them. He said he wanted to speak with Michelle about things but didn’t get the chance.
Casey said in a confessional that ‘what kind of an idiot’ doesn’t show Michelle attention on this group date.
‘If you thought he was desperate last week he is way more desperate this week,’ he said.
At the final cocktail party, Michelle and Rick took a city stroll and he told her that he would move to Minneapolis. Michelle also gave Brandon a birthday cake for his birthday. For Rodney, she took him up to the roof to see the view and they screamed ‘We Love Minnesota!’

Martin had an awkward conversation with Michelle before the ceremony about how he didn’t like dating high maintenance women.
At the rose ceremony, Michelle gave roses to Rick, Olu, Brandon, Martin, and Rodney.
Casey, and Leroy did not get roses and were sent home.
The Bachelorette will return next Tuesday on ABC.
