Dule Hill has joined The Wonders Years reboot!

The 45-year-old actor, known from Psych and The West Wing, will star as the family patriach, Bill Williams, in the upcoming series that will focus on a Black family in Montgomery, Alabama during the 1960s.

According to Variety, Dule‘s character Bill is a music professor by day and a funk musician by night and is described by the adult Dean as “The baddest guy I knew.”

Almost always calm and composed, his favorite words are “be cool.” Bill wants his family and their black, middle class neighborhood to remain self-sufficient and he puts his money where his mouth is.

Newcomer Laura Kariuki, who has appeared in The CW’s Black Lightning, will star as Kim Williams, Dean’s teenage sister.

Kim is described as “confident, bright and popular. She and Dean bicker as siblings do but they have a good relationship. Her parents have her preparing for college – but Kim is starting to rebel, telling them ‘Bobby Seale and H. Rap Brown didn’t even finish college’ and that she’ll learn more from Eldridge Cleaver’s ‘Soul on Ice’ than the SAT’s.”

Saycon Sengbloh will also star as Dean’s mom, Lillian.

Elisha Williams got word just a few days ago that he would star as Dean Williams in the show. See how he found out here!
