The college football world continues to evolve as athletes were allowed to officially pursue name, image and likeness opportunities on their own merits on July 1.
All college athletes are allowed to participate in NIL activities that are consistent with the law of the state where the school is located. Individuals can also use a professional services provider for NIL activities, according to a NCAA press release.
Several college football players have announced partnerships with agencies and brands this week including UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson.
Thompson-Robinson announced a partnership with Cameo, a platform that allows you to book personalized video shoutouts from celebrities and athletes, on Twitter Saturday.
“I’m officially partnering with Cameo and will officially be on the Cameo app,” Thompson-Robinson said in his first video on the platform. “You guys know I love my fans so make sure you guys give me some fun stuff to do and let’s interact with each other.”
A personalized video from Thompson-Robinson currently costs $60 before service fees.

Entering his fourth year with the Bruins, Thompson-Robinson is also able to align his status as UCLA’s quarterback with FriendsOverFans, a lifestyle brand he founded in 2019.
While athletes are expected to pursue any business or marketing opportunities on their own, it is likely UCLA will put a plan in place to provide resources for them.
“We enthusiastically embrace Name, Image & Likeness at UCLA,” Athletic Director Martin Jarmon tweeted. “We’re well positioned to be a leader in providing student athletes an environment to maximize their NIL opportunities.”
Thompson-Robinson remains focused on football as the Bruins’ season opener against Hawaii (at the Rose Bowl on Aug. 28) approaches.
Thompson-Robinson tweeted an email address that his mother would use to handle any incoming business and marketing inquiries while stating “I have to focus on football.”
Thompson-Robinson spent most of the past week as a counselor for the 2021 Elite 11 Finals in Manhattan Beach. Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma), Malik Willis (Liberty) and Sam Howell (North Carolina) also served as counselors for the competition among some of the nation’s best high school quarterbacks.
