A mother-of-two has revealed how she created a ‘First Time Sex Starter Kit’ with her sixteen-year-old son to help teens losing their virginity.
French entrepreneur Chloe Macintosh, who lives in London, came up with the idea for a sex education app during lockdown, launching Kama, which features guidance for all ages on a number of different topics, including foreplay and anal sex.
The ‘starter kit’ element came about organically when her eldest son, Felix, 16, was chatting about sex with his 19-year-old cousin, Jules.
Once her son’s friends started to hear she was launching the guidance on the app, they began asking her to include different topics, including what position to start with, and what to do when things go wrong.
Chloe, who is also co-founder of Made.com, told HuffPost: ‘We never learn how to relate, to create intimacy, to listen, to touch.

‘So the content we wanted to put out there is more than some tips to put a condom on, but more relating to the experience and making is as relaxed and comfortable as possible.’
Chloe explained how sex was ‘never’ a topic in her own youth, and she wanted to encourage her sons to have healthy relationships in the future.
She began work on the app during the Covid-19 pandemic, while both of her sons, Felix and Elliot, 14, were at home.
She confessed the topic of sex is unavoidable in their home, where there are ‘sex books everywhere’ as well as ‘toys and gadgets’.

The mother-of-two explained: ‘After an initial period of resistance, Felix and Elliott started to become more used to the topic and speaking about it became more and more normal.’
As organic conversations began taking place, Chloe felt she was gaining more and more content for her app, recording different discussions for later use.
The kit on the app is designed to demystify sex for younger people, with descriptions in language which echoes the way teenagers speak.
There are 20 different videos in the series, in which Felix sits down with a sex coach to ask all the questions he has about intimacy.

In a trailer shared online promoting the app, Felix can be heard asking the coach: ‘Would you help her with take her clothes off? Or would you just take off your own and leave her do it?’
In another clip, Felix asked: ‘If she says she’s experiencing a bit of pain and you can feel there is a bit of resistance in the body, what should you do?’
Meanwhile the teenager also asked: ‘Where are the secret spots we aren’t told about?’
Chloe said she hoped it would fill a gap in the sex education widely taught in schools, with topics including dry humping and ‘how to use your penis inside.’

Video guidance on the app includes clips of the coach talking to Felix about consent as well as foreplay
There are also guides to foreplay, overcoming sexual anxiety and partaking in anal play.
The entrepreneur confessed she hopes the app empowers youngsters to openly discuss sex and pleasure with their parents, siblings and peers.
Online, the app is described as ‘offering Mindful Sex practices for all bodies, regardless of age, sexuality, or gender.’
The website continues: ‘The Kama Method is for anyone and everyone…Our unique approach combines body, mind, and heart in order to help us reconnect with ourselves and others.
‘More than a method, Kama is a social movement aimed at transforming the conversation around sex and intimacy by building a community of sexual explorers. ‘
