Let me set the stage for you: There I am, standing in my parents kitchen, waiting on my mom and preparing to head out for a long, hot day of home shopping and moving prep. The high is expected to be in the 90s and, to stay cool, I’ve chosen to wear a breezy tiered maxi dress with bare thighs underneath. Thinking I’m alone, I hike up my dress and grab my trusty glide-on. At that exact moment, my mom comes walking in, ready to go, only to stare at me in confusion before telling me that it’s probably not a great idea to apply chemical-laden deodorant next to, “my bits.” Yes, dear reader, I cackled, too.

You see, my mom hasn’t found it necessary to use an anti-chafing stick, and as such, chafing is something of a mystery to her. So it’s only natural that she seemed absolutely gobsmacked by something that I’ve become entirely accustomed to: a little slip-n-slide for the thighs. It’s not deodorant, it’s the Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Friction Stick ($14) and, to put it lightly, I’m infatuated.

Formulated with aloe vera, pomegranate, and grape seed oil, this creamy, residue-free, anti-chafe balm hydrates, soothes, and protects thighs from uncomfortable friction. If you’ve never experienced the painful, skin-tugging pull of your thighs rubbing together, such a product may seem like a gimmick, but for anyone who has, it likely sounds like a downright dream. And I say that from experience: After I whipped my Megababe Thigh Rescue stick out in front of my best girl friends in the bathroom at a major league soccer game in high temperatures capable of inducing heat exhaustion (and thigh swelling)—and explained what it was—they promptly added it to their shopping lists, and now swear by it, too.

Of course, if you’re not new to the idea of a little thigh lube (because hey, that’s essentially what it is), you might be wondering what makes Megababe’s Thigh Rescue so special. For me, it’s the fact that it takes forever to dry down to the point where it’s no longer effective. (That’s not to say it’s wet or goopy, though.) So long as you really slather it on, your thighs will maintain an oh-so-good glide that will make you forget they even rub together in the first place.

Even if your thighs don’t touch, though, Thigh Rescue is a must have. Remember: chafing can happen anywhere friction occurs, on *all* types of bodies, be it from skin on skin, or material on skin. Sports bra straps, too-tight swim bottoms, armpits—if you can chafe it, this stick savior can handle it. I’ve been using it for years and, more recently, I’ve realized that it works like a charm to prevent blisters on my toes. I apply it liberally on any pressure point on my feet so that even the newest, stiffest sandals won’t wreak havoc on my ankles, pinkie toes, or heels.

Needless to say, I have multiple mini and full-size Thigh Rescue sticks to ensure I never have to go a hot, clammy day without it. Because if the past days, weeks, months, and years with it have taught me anything, it’s that I don’t ever wish to live without it. (Hey, I know it sounds better to say I “can’t” live without it but, come on, it’s not water or food. That said, it is among my desert-island beauty products, so do with that what you will.)
