Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is set to open his first Wahlburgers restaurant in Australia just steps away from the Sydney Opera House. The casual dining restaurant is expected to open by Christmas and will run all day from breakfast to late at night, offering a full menu with a couple of Aussie classics.

The casual dining restaurant is expected to open by Christmas – and will run all day from breakfast to late at night, offering a full menu with a couple of Aussie classics.

The US burger chain is famous for its fresh ground beef burgers, entrée salads and sandwiches, loaded tots and frothy shakes.

With sweeping views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and just a few doors down from United Cinemas Opera Quays, the venue features seating indoors and outdoors that can accommodate up to 250 diners.

‘I am thrilled to announce Opera Quays at Circular Quay as the location of our first Wahlburgers in Australia. After personally seeing the location, I believe we’ve chosen one of the most iconic venues in the world,’ Wahlberg said.

The US burger chain, which is owned by the US movie actor and his brothers Paul and Donnie, has invested $50million in opening 20 restaurants across Australia and New Zealand over the next five years, with plans to employ more than 500 workers.

‘We’re so excited to be working with Mark, Donnie and Chef Paul Wahlberg on opening the first of 20 Wahlburgers across Australia and New Zealand,’ Sam Mustaca, CEO of Wahlburgers Australia and United Cinemas said.

‘In my opinion this really is the best Wahlburgers location on the planet with patio views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and adjacent to the Opera House this will be a Wahlburgers experience like no other.’

Wahlburgers is a casual dining restaurant and bar founded by the Wahlberg brothers.

The chain currently has 60 locations throughout North America and Europe. For the last two years, Fast Casual named Wahlburgers in the Top 100 Movers & Shakers.

The Mile 22 star arrived in Australia in November last year to check out the location and meet with his Australian partners Sam and Roy Mustaca who own United Cinemas, Australia’s largest independently owned cinema chain.

Following a successful career as an opera singer, Roy started United Cinemas in the ’80’s with one cinema on Collaroy Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. 

Over the last 37 years the chain has grown to over 57 screens across Australia and New Zealand with 19 more screens presently being built.
