Love Is Blind personality Abhishek ‘Shake’ Chatterjee took to Instagram Tuesday to apologize to former fiancée Deepti Vempati after he made remarks on the show that he didn’t have a strong sexual attraction to her.
Chatterjee, 33, was seen seated in a red plaid shirt in a clip on the social media site in which he stated he was contrite over making the remarks about Vempati, 31, who wound up ending the relationship at the altar prior to exchanging vows.
‘I wanted to take this opportunity to really just say sorry to a woman that I know I hurt,’ Chatterjee said in the clip. ‘Deepti, I am truly sorry for some of the things I said. Things that, honestly, just could’ve been left unsaid, or could have been said differently.’
The latest: Love Is Blind personality Abhishek ‘Shake’ Chatterjee, 33, took to Instagram Tuesday to apologize to former fiancée Deepti Vempati, 31, after he made remarks on the show that he didn’t have a strong sexual attraction to her
Chatterjee said that he had said ‘things that never should have been [said] on national television’ about Vempati, who he said he was ‘best friends’ with during production of the Netflix show.
‘Even though I knew our relationship wasn’t going to end in marriage, I didn’t want what we had to end either,’ said the veterinarian/DJ, who appeared to be in a busy public setting while making the apology. ‘I loved every second of it. I’m so, so sorry that I hurt you with my words. That’s the last thing that I wanted from all of this. I’m sorry, Deepti.’
Chatterjee captioned the shot, ‘I’m sorry, @lifewithdeeps. I’m ready to take accountability for my actions and be better. While I’ve reached out privately, I think it’s also important I apologize publicly for the sake of your family and friends that I’ve upset as well.’
The reactions to the social media post varied, with some commending Chatterjee for his apology, while others did not think it was genuine.

‘Why are you doing this in the middle of what seems to be a restaurant?’ one user wrote. ‘And why does it look like you’re trying not to smirk all the way through this?’
Another person said that the only reason Chatterjee apologized was ‘because everyone is coming for’ him amid the backlash of his actions on the series.
One user said of Chatterjee apology: ‘Finally what we’ve all been waiting to hear, I hope it’s genuine,’ while another said, ‘We all make mistakes. Owning up to them can be the hard part. You did the right thing.’
Vempati earlier this month spoke with Page Six about the difficulty in watching her relationship with Chatterjee play out on the series.
‘We talked about how we struggled with the intimacy part of our relationship but watching it back was hard,’ Vempati told the outlet. ‘It was tough [to see] the way he was talking about me.
‘Some of the things he said were just completely disrespectful, even to a friend. So, yeah, it’s been tough watching it back but I’m trying to put it in the past and just move forward.’

Last week, Chatterjee said in a clip on Instagram that he was not remorseful about his words or actions on the Netflix show.
‘One thing I don’t feel inclined to do is pretend I’m sad or sorry about certain things – certain things that were out of my control, certain things that I can’t necessarily even speak about,’ he said. ‘I’m just not going to do that. I’m not sorry. I think I handled the situation as best as anybody in my situation could.
‘And at the end of the day, I’m going to live my best life going forward. And you don’t have to like me. Only I have to like me, thankfully. And that’s real life.’
Love Is Blind can be seen on Netflix.
