First Lady Jill Biden thanked Sesame Street’s Elmo for getting the COVID-19 vaccine Friday, before visiting youngsters in Virginia getting their jabs.
‘Our friend Elmo and his dad, Louie, talked to their pediatrician and learned that getting the vaccine is the best way to keep Elmo and the whole Sesame Street neighborhood safe and healthy!’ the first lady tweeted. ‘So, reach out to your pediatrician to get the answers you need.’
Her compliment comes as Sen. Ted Cruz continued to complain about Sesame Street using Elmo to encourage child vaccinations.
‘Corporate media having fun pretending I’m in a fight with the red furry muppet Elmo,’ he tweeted Friday. ‘Nope. My disagreement is with the woke people with their hands up his a** using a puppet to spread dishonest government propaganda to toddlers.’

Biden traveled to Richmond, Virginia to a Henrico County vaccination clinic where babies and toddlers were getting COVID-19 vaccines, after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention greenlit the shots for the youngest category of Americans last month.
‘The relief is finally here – a vaccine for our youngest children,’ she said.
‘Parents, this is your choice and we want you to have all the information you need to make that choice,’ the first lady added, referring them to the CDC’s website.
Biden was photographed consoling at least one crying little girl.
‘I promise it doesn’t hurt and I’m a scaredy cat when it comes to shots,’ the first lady told one family.
When Biden received her series of shots she did so without cameras present, because of her fear of needles.
Still, she has traveled around to vaccination clinics around the country urging Americans to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
She cheered on Elmo because he’s part of the youngest demo.
The muppet, who has been on Sesame Street for decades, is only supposed to be 3 years old.
On Tuesday, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz shared the same Elmo tweet as Dr. Biden – complaining that the children’s television show was ‘aggresively advocated’ vaccinated children five and under – claiming there’s ‘zero scientific evidence’ that they need to be vaccinated.
Cruz referred people to his website and a letter he and other Republican lawmakers had written in early June questioning Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf and members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee on the need for COVID vaccines for those under five to be approved under an Emergency Use Authorization.
Sen. Ted Cruz’s war on Sesame Street resumed Tuesday after the Texas Republican saw that the fictional muppet Elmo had been vaccinated against COVID-19
In November, the Texas Republican also took issue with Sesame Street promoting COVID-19 vaccines. ‘Government propaganda … for your 5 year old!’ he wrote after Big Bird volunteered he’d been vaccinated
Among the questions the GOP lawmakers wanted answerd was ‘how will the FDA evaluate potential tradeoffs of serious vaccine injuries versus serious COVID outcomes?’
Cruz’s Tuesday tweet comes after he said in November that Sesame Street was spreading ‘Government propaganda…for your 5 year old!’
The offense then was a tweet sent out by Big Bird, who revealed he had been vaccinated.
‘I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy,’ Big Bird said, adding that he had been told that he had been receiving vaccines against illnesses ‘since I was a little bird.’
‘I had no idea!’ Big Bird volunteered.
