Global News weather forecast in Toronto interrupted by presenter's dog

Working from home creates plenty of gatecrashing opportunities for curious children and naughty pets, but one weather presenter discovered that nobody is safe from interruption even in the TV studio.

Working from home creates plenty of gatecrashing opportunities for curious children and naughty pets, but one weather presenter discovered that nobody is safe from interruption – even in the TV studio.

Chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell at Toronto TV channel Global News found himself with a storm of a different kind brewing, when his aptly named dog Storm strutted on to the set during the weather forecast.

Anthony Farnell tried in vain to shoo his dog away, but the furry gatecrasher twirled and enthusiastically jumped while Anthony did his best to remain professional and talked viewers through his graphics.

The hilarious moment was shared by Global News on Youtube and made its way to Twitter, where it was watched more than two million times as viewers fell in love with Storm’s antics.

The forecast began as it normally would, with Anthony talking viewers through their weekend and the weather implications of the Northern American Hurricane Ida.

Soon entered curly pooch Storm. who didn’t seem to care that his owner was working.

The hungry dog could be seen walking in and out of camera shot, following Anthony around and sniffing the floor, looking for treats.

Without missing a beat, Anthony pressed on with the forecast, doing his best not to acknowledge Storm.

Even Anthony struggled not to laugh when Storm started yapping and twirling on the set during the forecast

At the end of the segment, however, the presenter joked Storm was ‘saying hi’ and that the dog was ‘looking for snacks,’ and would be getting his dinner soon.

Global News shared the full segment on its Youtube channel.

‘For any longtime viewers of Global Toronto, weatherman Anthony Farnell’s reliable weather forecasts have become an institution…almost as much as his adorable pup, “Storm the Weather Dog”,’ they said.

‘Last Friday, a hungry-for-treats Storm invaded the set in the middle of Anthony’s weather report, demanding treats even as Farnell was explaining to Ontarians what weather they would be facing that weekend, and discussed the dangers posed by Hurricane Ida further south,’ they went on.

‘Both consummate professionals, Anthony finished his segment without a hitch while Storm sated his hunger (and mugged a bit for the camera)…all in a day’s work,’ they added.

The funny moment brightened people’s day when it went viral on Twitter.

‘I’m sorry but this is the best thing I’ve seen all week,’ one said.

‘I like how the camera starts following the dog instead of the reporter,’ another wrote.

‘He’s Storm the Weather Dog. He just celebrated his 10th birthday. Storm the sweet little pupper belongs to Anthony Farnell, the Chief Meteorologist at Global News – Toronto,’ one explained.

‘Dog Weather is a channel I would watch,’ one said.

‘Thank you, I was just growing depressed again. All meteorologists need animal assistants,’ one wrote.
