The former Yellow Wiggle looks set to return as a children’s entertainer.

After nine years of performing as the Yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins made the decision to pass on her famous skivvy at the end of 2021.

Kids around the world were left disappointed saying goodbye to one of their beloved characters –and the first female Wiggle.

But Emma’s recent activity on Instagram suggests the singer and dancer isn’t done with performing for kids, and will be returning to the world of children’s entertainment very soon.

Emma Watkins missed home

Emma explained in October last year that the pandemic had given her plenty of time to reflect on what is important in life and for her, “that means spending more time at home”.

“Something that I didn’t realise I was missing out on being away eight months of the year on tour, but something that I have really cherished over the last 18 months,” she said at the time.

She revealed she would be spending more on her PhD involving her ongoing passion for sign language, dance and film editing.

Emma Memma has been revealed

Now a quick glance at Emma’s Instagram page reveals hints about her next move back into children’s entertainment – incorporating her love for song, dance and supporting the deaf community.

She has changed her name, and introduced a new character called Emma Memma.

“I know she likes dancing. I know she will sign. And she will incorporate my research. But the rest is open,” she told Stellar last week.

Five weeks ago she started posting orange and pink toned squares to her social media page with hints about the new character.

Two days ago she posted, “Roses are red, And can be pink too. I can’t wait to share Emma Memma with you…”

Another caption said, “she loves to tell stories, In sign, dance and song. So join Emma Memma, Yes, do come along…”

Fans responded with excitement.

“We have one excited 3 year old ready to meet this new character! We still watch old Emma series 2 videos and he LOVES them. Excited for your new adventure,” one mum wrote.

Another said, “You are destined for incredible things, can’t wait to follow you on this journey.”

She has asked fans to sign up to the newsletter on her website to be the first to hear her news.
