Explicit Euphoria premiere has viewers comparing raunchy scenes to their own VERY tame teenage years

Just one episode in, Euphoria already has viewers captivated by season two but its also left many comparing the shows very raunchy scenes to their own much tamer high school experiences. In Sunday nights premiere of the HBO Max hit, there is plenty of full-frontal nudity, drug use, and other shocking teen behavior.

In Sunday night’s premiere of the HBO Max hit, there is plenty of full-frontal nudity, drug use, and other shocking teen behavior.

And while older fans are eating it up, they’re also questioning how realistic the show is — with some admitting that they must have been nerds in high school because their own teen years looked nothing like the show.

Some fans genuinely want to know if high school is really like this now — or if perhaps it has always been for some people.

‘Who watches #Euphoria? Is that how high school parties are now?’ asked one. ‘We just wore Abercrombie and drank wine coolers when I was in high school. ‘

‘I love watching shows like Euphoria, Outer Banks, and 13 Reasons Why because they are quite relatable and do a great job at portraying the traditional high school experience,’ joked another, who clearly believed the show’s plots are a stretch.

‘Euphoria is like most high schools in that there are basically no parents involved and cops never get called to parties where children are using hardcore drugs and assaulting one another. A true slice of Americana,’ said a third.

‘Euphoria asks an interesting question: what if people in high school were 27 years old? ‘ quipped a fourth.

Yet another wrote that Euphoria seems ‘crazy,’ and when she was in high school, the most wild that things ever got was the time she and her friends got ahold of a 12-pack and cigarettes.

Some are particularly shocked by how much nudity and sex is portrayed in the show.

‘I saw more penises in the season premiere of Euphoria than I did in all of 2021,’ tweeted one.

And another: ‘Euphoria isn’t an accurate depiction of high school for example most schools won’t show that much erect penis in their season 2 opening episode.’

For others, it’s been the drugs that have left their jaws on the floor.

‘A lot of u are misunderstanding euphoria.. it’s not supposed to be a realistic depiction of high school it’s supposed to inspire you to do drugs,’ said one.

‘My high school experience was not like euphoria because all my friends were insane nerds who acted like I was going to die from drug addiction for smoking weed,’ wrote another.

‘Seriously I was lame af in high school because how are they doing all of these drugs?! Flushed face All I remember the kids using was alcohol and weed,’ wrote yet another.

Yet enough Twitter users have insisted their own high school experiences were just like Euphoria — making other users realize that they just didn’t run in the groups that behaved this way.

‘Whenever I watch Euphoria, I look back on high school me and say “damn dude, you sure were a virgin nerd.’ wrote one.

‘My high school experience was exactly like euphoria except i was really ugly afraid of drugs and never got invited to parties but other than that EXACTLY the same,’ another noted.

‘Euphoria taking place in high school is crazy to me. I was into video games and junk food @ that age,’ recalled one more.

‘I wish euphoria had more storylines reflective of my life in high school,’ added another, who recalled ‘wearing basketball shorts every day of the year, getting a penny stuck in my steering wheel so whenever I turned left it honked for 2 mins, losing my virginity to a girl who said “tell no one about this.”‘

‘For the record, my high school experience was a lot like Euphoria if Zendaya spent more time in a marching band, went to more magic games, and generally looked much worse,’ quipped one fan.

Another mused: ‘Clearly, I was a nerd and unpopular in high school because my experience was NOTHING like Euphoria, what was y’all doing??? ‘

‘When I was in high school I played Cool Math Games do they do this in Euphoria,’ another remembered.

The show inspired some shock and outrage in 2019 during the first season due to its explicit nature.

The first episode alone featured a drug overdose, statutory rape, and revenge porn.

Zendaya’s character, Rue, suffered from a drug overdose, while a group of shirtless teen boys hovered around a phone as they looked at revenge porn photos of another character, whose images were leaked online by someone she had sex with.

In another troubling scene, Hunter Schafer’s 17-year-old transgender character, Jules, meets Eric Dane’s married father-of-three character Cal Jacobs at a motel for sex.

The shocking scene featured an erect prosthetic penis that was worn by Dane who proceeded to have sex with Jules.

The first episode also showed countless drug scenes, partying, and a rough sex encounter with two of the show’s main characters.

Series creator Sam Levinson conceded that ‘there are going to be parents who are going to be totally f**king freaked out’.

Parents Television Council president Tim Winter already slammed the series before it aired, telling news site that it ‘appears to be overtly, intentionally marketing extremely graphic adult content — sex, violence, profanity and drug use — to teens and preteens’.
