A string of businesses in Darwin have been hit in a shocking crime spree that saw a gang of vandals ram a stolen car through the glass windows of an alcohol store.
The thugs made a number of stops as they went on a rampage through Palmerston, Northern Territory, during the early hours of May 12.
Police believe the intruders made their first hit at a shop on Forest Parade in Rosebery around 2am.
The spree continued a short distance into the Palmerston CBD, where police say a Hungry Jacks store was damaged following a break-in.
CCTV footage reveals the moment the offenders drove through the front of the Zuccoli Cellarbrations during the early hours of May 12
Watch Commander Richard Howie said the offenders later drove a stolen car into the front of a liquor store in Zuccoli at 2:30am.
‘In this matter the offenders have entered the store, they’ve removed liquor and attempted to access draws and registers in the shop’, he said.
Police believe a blue 2020 KIA Seltos was stolen from an address in Woodroffe in inner-city Palmerston and used in the rampage.
Zuccoli IGA posted photos of the destruction online, telling customers there had been too much glass on the floor to open the store safely
Dozens of wine bottles were smashed during the break-in, with the subsequent clean-up taking staff the entire day
Zuccoli IGA shared multiple photos of the destruction in a post on their Facebook page and informed customers the store would not be opening.
‘Early this morning we got a phone call to say that our beautiful shop was being robbed’, the post read.
‘Two thieves drove a car through our glass windows and the damage is just unbelievable.
‘We don’t have many words but to say we are devastated.’

The store shared CCTV footage of the robbery in a subsequent post.
In the footage, the stolen vehicle is seen crashing through the front of the liquor store before reversing and parking a few metres away.
Two individuals, one wearing black gloves and the other holding a torch, are seen entering the store and running through the aisles.
‘There was one hell of a mess to clean up and it has taken all day’, the caption read.
‘With so much glass everywhere it was just too dangerous to open the Cellarbrations today.
‘We will reopen tomorrow morning and we can’t wait to see your smiling faces back in store.’
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland urged anyone with information in regards to the incident or the stolen blue KIA Seltos to contact Crime Stoppers.
