Allen Stone, one of the few contestants on American Song Contest who are already famous performers, will not be singing live on the show’s finale.
The 35-year-old soul and R&B singer, who is best known for his songs “Unaware” and “Brown Eyed Lover,” is having his rehearsal performance aired on the finale as he is unable to attend the live taping.

It was announced at the beginning of the grand final that Allen was not in attendance due to personal reasons.
Before his performance, Allen discussed his mom’s battle with cancer. He said, “My mom has been battling cancer for the past two years. When i took the show, I told mom that I’m going to have to be gone. And I didn’t need to be on the show if she needed me around. She said, ‘Don’t even think about. Go share your music.’”
No details about his personal emergency are known at this time.
Allen, who is representing the state of Washington in the competition, performed his original song “A Bit of Both” during the finale.
“Allen will join us virtually later tonight,” co-host Kelly Clarkson announced after the performance.
Eight of the 56 contestants this year were already famous!
